<p>Six people are dead and two people are missing after a boat carrying 10 passengers capsized on Lake Tahoe, according to officials.</p>
<p>On Saturday, June 21, the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office "received multiple reports of a capsized boat in South Lake Tahoe," the sheriff's office said in a post on Facebook. "Callers indicated that approximately 10 individuals were in the water near the vessel, with reported wave heights reaching 8 feet."</p>
<p>At around 3 p.m. local time, the Coast Guard Station Lake Tahoe sent a response crew to assist California State Parks and the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office in the search.</p>
<p>The boat capsized near D.L. Bliss State Park, in South Lake Tahoe, California.</p>
<p>Of the 10 passengers, six were found dead, two were rescued and taken to the hospital, and two others are still missing, the Reno Gazette Journal, a part of the USA TODAY Network reported. The group was on board a 27-foot Chris-Craft boat in the afternoon when a storm caused up to 8-foot swells.</p>
<p>USA TODAY has reached out to the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office for more information.</p>

<p>The ages and names of the victims have not been made public, but officials said that all six of the deceased were adults.</p>
<p>"The identities of the deceased will not be released until next-of-kin notifications have been made," the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office said on Facebook.</p>
<p>It is unknown if there were children on board the boat or if passengers were wearing life jackets when the boat capsized.</p>
<p>The EDSO Search and Rescue and the EDSO Dive Team returned to the location where the boat capsized Sunday morning to continue their search.</p>
<p>The U.S. Coast Guard is also assisting with the search.</p>
