Five nostalgic items — Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Taco, Double Decker Taco, 7-Layer Burrito, Chili Cheese Burrito and Caramel Apple Empanada — will be back from a limited-time

Themed merchandise, like a bedazzled Ed Hardy hat, are available as part of the drop

The early aughts were full of riding Razor Scooters, hearing the AOL dial-up sound, wearing Juicy Couture sweatsuits and eating Taco Bell's Chili Cheese Burrito.

The Mexican restaurant chain's latest menu is a blast from the past. The Decades Y2K Menu brings back five discontinued items from the 2000s for a limited-time, and the nostalgic choices are landing on Tuesday, Sept. 9.

The newest 2000s item making its grand return is the Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Taco. The chip-inspired taco was introduced in early 2013 and removed from menus in 2019, according to Taco Bell Wiki. Just like before, the shell is made from the blue-bagged chips and filled with ground beef, lettuce and shredded cheese and goes for $2.49.

The returning Double Decker Taco was also discontinued in 2019, but had a longer stay than the Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Taco. This menu item was added as a permanent menu item in 2006, after having first been available in 1995. The loaded item ($2.49) combines two tacos into one bite. A hard shell taco, filled with beef, lettuce and shredded cheese is wrapped in a bean-filled soft tortilla.

Vegetarians are in for a cult-favorite treat, like the 7-Layer Burrito. The meatless wrap, first introduced in 1993, is meant to taste like a seven-layer dip. It stacks refried beans, rice, shredded cheese, sour cream, guacamole, tomatoes and lettuce. U.S. locations removed the item in 2020, but it is back next month for $2.49.

The Chili Cheese Burrito, which was called the Chilito when it was introduced in 1990, faded from restaurants in the mid-90s, though some franchisees in the Midwest kept the beloved item. The wrap is simple — chili and cheese, held together in a tortilla — will go for $2.99.

The Caramel Apple Empanada is the last of the nostalgic menu items and wraps apple pieces and caramel sauce in a sweet pastry dough. Just like several Decades Y2K Menu items, the dessert was discontinued in 2019. The dessert had popped up on menus in 2000.

The sweet was part of the Decades Menu released last year. Taco Bell revived five old menu items, each from the '60s, '70s, '80s, '90s and '00s, in October 2024.

For more nostalgia, Taco Bell has a line of merchandise inspired by the then-new millennium. From a bedazzled Ed Hardy hat to a neon-colored watch, reward members can try to score the themed swag during sporadic September drops.
