Alabama's recent dominance over Georgia continued on Saturday night in a 24-21 win over the No. 5 Bulldogs.
The win drops Georgia coach Kirby Smart to 1-7 against Alabama and 0-2 against current Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer. And much like a season ago, DeBoer's team jumped out to an early lead before putting the game away late.
Alabama converted a third down on a quarterback sneak by Ty Simpson with 2:20 to go before Georgia cornerback Ellis Robinson was flagged for a personal foul for jumping on the pile. From there, the Crimson Tide ran out the clock to preserve the win thanks to a clutch third-down conversion after the 2-minute warning.
After Georgia used its last timeout, Simpson rolled out to throw a pass to the flat to running back Jam Miller to slid to the turf after getting the first down.
Neither team scored in the fourth quarter after Alabama led 24-14 at halftime. The Bulldogs pulled within three with 6:30 to go in the third quarter on a one-yard run by Josh McCray.
The Bulldogs looked poised to take the lead or at least tie the game early in the fourth quarter when they got to the Alabama 8-yard line. But after rushing to the line of scrimmage ahead of fourth down, Alabama's LT Overton snuffed out the run to Cash Jones and pushed Jones down before he got to the line of scrimmage.

Alabama's third-down dominance
Alabama held onto the ball for more than 35 minutes Saturday night and were incredibly efficient on third downs while Georgia wasn't.
The Tide were 13-of-19 on third downs and had six drives that took at least eight plays. Alabama ran 77 offensive plays to Georgia's 53 and, crucially, didn't commit a turnover.
Georgia's Nate Frazier fumbled deep in Bulldogs territory in the second quarter with Alabama leading 14-7. The Crimson Tide tacked on a short field goal after the turnover to extend the lead to 10.
Simpson is going to get some love in the Heisman conversation after his performance on Saturday night. He was 24-of-38 passing for 276 yards and two touchdowns and also rushed for another score. Since an uneven debut as a starter in Week 1 in the Tide's upset loss to Florida State, Simpson has completed over 70% of his passes and still hasn't thrown an interception all season.
