Malik Taylor, a social media creator with more than 200,000 TikTok followers, has died in a car crash, his family announced.

"It is with love and gratitude that we, the family of Malik Taylor, acknowledge the incredible support and kindness shown following his untimely passing due to a tragic vehicle accident," Taylor's family said in a statement on Aug. 23 shared by his business fraternity, Alpha Kappa Psi.

According to local outlets WBTV, WCNC, and WSOC, Taylor died in a car crash that happened in Concord, North Carolina, on Aug. 20.

Concord police responded to Lapis Lane NW around 7:45 a.m. local time and found a Nissan Rogue had crashed in an embankment about 20 feet off the roadway, according to the outlets.

Taylor's family said in the statement shared by his fraternity that he was "so much more than a content creator."

"His creativity, humor, and spirit touched countless lives, and his legacy of inspiring, entertaining, and uplifting others will continue to live on," the statement said.

The family asked for "privacy and compassion as we grieve and find strength together as a family."

"We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of love from the community that has embraced him," the statement added. "Your encouragement and support mean more than words can ever express."

Alpha Kappa Psi's Zeta Phi chapter, which is based at Austin Peay State University, said Taylor was a member of its 2017 class.

"To know him was to know he was a light to everyone—always bringing laughter, joy, and a warm smile that brightened every room he entered," the chapter said in a social media statement.

'Everyone loved your videos': Malik Taylor was a TikToker with over 200,000 followers

Taylor's TikTok account, which has more than 266,000 followers, features pop culture commentary and comedy videos.

According to Taylor's social media, he recently moved from Memphis, Tennessee, to Charlotte, North Carolina. Concord is about 25 miles northeast of Charlotte. In his last TikTok post, he spoke on the move, and captioned the video "The Queen City needed a King." After his death, fans left comments on that video in disbelief. One user said, "Everyone loved your videos. Rest in peace Malik." While another wrote, "one of my fave content creators. this one hurts, rest in peace king."

In a July Instagram post, Taylor celebrated his 28th birthday with a "The Great Gatsby" inspired photoshoot.
