LSU football lands 5-star tight end Ahmad Hudson

LSU footballfans waiting for Lane Kiffin to make some noise on the recruiting trail in the 2027 cycle haven't had to wait long.

At the beginning of the year, the Tigers landed a commitment from top 20 defensive lineman Jaiden Bryant out of Irmo (Columbia, S.C.). On Sunday, they landed an even bigger prize, keeping one of the state's top players inLouisiana's home.

Ruston (LA) five-star tight end Ahmad Hudson announced his commitment to the Tigers, choosingLSUoverNebraska.

According to 247Sports, the 6-foot-6.5, 239-pounder is ranked as the No. 11 overall player in the 2027 class. The site ranks him as the No. 1 tight end and the No. 2 player in the state, only behindElijah Haven, who committed to Alabama.

Hudson is a multi-sport star at Ruston, excelling as one of the state's top basketball players. He's averaged a double-double in each of his three seasons on the courts.

On the gridiron, he's proven to be a matchup nightmare.

This year, he participated in the Navy All-American Bowl, one of the few underclassmen to play in the game. He was named the MVP of the Louisiana Division 1 Non-Select championship despite the loss, after catching six passes for 169 yards and a touchdown.

Hudson could be kicking off point for LSU's 2027 class

Expectations were high for Tigers fans when it was announced that Lane Kiffin was taking over the program last November.

A prolific recruiter, it came as no surprise that many expected the Tigers to once again be among the top five teams in the country in acquiring high school talent.

So far, though, that hasn't exactly been the case.

According to 247Sports, LSU's 2027 class ranks as the No. 33 class in the cycle. The Tigers have only five commitments to date.

Of their five commitments, three are homegrown talents who rank as four or five-star talents. Kiffin was able to keep a commitment from four-star quarterback PeytonHouston, who committed to the Tigers last September.Four-star athlete Braylon Calais out of Cecilia (Carencro, LA) announced his commitment to LSU on April 20.

The 2026 Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix weekend has been full of surprises, including a last-minute change to the start time. Because of heavy rain forecasted for Sunday afternoon, the start time for the race has been moved up from 4 p.m. to 1 p.m. Here’s what else to expect.

The 11 teams that make up Formula 1’s 2026 lineup spent two days battling in practice and Sprint races as well as competing in the Grand Prix Qualifying round. The grid (who starts in what position) is set for Sunday’s Grand Prix race, which airs at 1 p.m. onApple TV.Mercedes’Kimi Antonelliwill start in pole position, Red Bull’s Max Verstappen will start in 2nd position, and Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc will start in 3rd position.

This is the first Grand Prix race weekend after Formula 1 made midseason changes to its rules to address driver and team complaints about how their new hybrid power systems (50 percent electric and 50 percent internal combustion) were regulated. Quick take: The racing seems to have improved after the new tweaks, with more neck-and-neck battles (including a nail-biter between Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli and George Russell during Saturday’s Sprint) that are a hallmark of F1 racing.

Cadillac started from scratch and created a whole new team this year while Audi purchased the former Sauber team and has been busy making it its own. Cadillac is using a Ferrari engine for its debut season while Audi is using one it designed and built itself. Late last month, Audi announced that Allan McNish, an Audi motorsports veteran and multiple Le Mans 24 Hour Race winner, will be its new racing director. Miami is McNish’s first Grand Prix in the new role and on Saturday Audi driver Nico Hulkenberg qualified to start in a respectable 11th position.

Eight seasons of Netflix’sFormula 1: Drive to Survive,the reality show that chronicles behind-the-scenes drama in the teams and between the drivers, plus last year’s Brad Pitt–starringF1film have turned the F1 drivers and racing directors into full-blown celebrities in the U.S. On Friday and Saturday, even drivers who were not Lewis Hamilton (arguably F1’s most famous star) were trailed by herds of fans asking for autographs.

This is Miami’s fifth year hosting Formula 1 and if the miles of heavy traffic going to the Miami International Autodrome, where the race is held, is any indication,the sport’s popularityin the city (and in the U.S. in general) is growing exponentially. Notable fans at the first couple of days' events included Serena Williams, Colin Farrell, Jimmy Fallon, and Michelle Obama. Expect many others to appear trackside on Sunday.

The Braves optioned right-hander Hunter Stratton to Triple-A Gwinnett following Saturday's game to make room for him. They also selected outfielder José Azócar's contract from the minor league club on Sunday with Acuña going on the injured list.

In conversation with PEOPLE at the A Country Thing Happened on the Way to Cure Parkinson’s event in Nashville on April 15, the acclaimedBack to the Futurestar, 64, took a brief moment to reflect on the notion that his costar in the 1985 film and longtime friend,Christopher Lloyd, is turning 88 this year.

Through the lens of the movie, that number is the same as the speed needed by the DeLorean time machine to time-travel.

"Yeah. I put a picture on my Instagram," Fox said, referencing a photo he and Lloyd shared in a jointpostof the pair out to eat, leaning in and smiling at one another.

That post was captioned, "Dining with my bestie at the beach. Next year BTTF is 41. Great Scott. Chris will be 8️⃣8️⃣. That’s some serious s---," in reference to Lloyd's character, Dr. Emmett "Doc" Brown.

Lloyd, quoting Fox's character, Marty McFly, as he just did his own, wrote in the comments, "Man, that’s heavy."

"He and I went out for dinner a few days ago, and he said he'd be 88 ... when he turns 88. But he's great. He's one of the most youthful guys I know. So young," Fox told PEOPLE at the Nashville event.

Thanks to Cam York's OT winner, Flyers eliminate Penguins in Game 6

Cam York scored at 17:32 of overtime, propelling the Philadelphia Flyers into the second round of the Eastern Conference playoffs with a 1-0 victory over the visiting Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 6 on Wednesday.

After winning the first three games of the best-of-seven series, the Flyers lost Games 4 and 5 and struggled to find their offensive footing for much of Game 6. However, York's first career playoff goal came at the perfect time, sending Philadelphia into a second-round matchup with the Carolina Hurricanes.

Following a faceoff win in the offensive zone, York unleashed a wrist shot from the right point that got through traffic, hit off the right post, and skipped past Arturs Silovs.

"The way that the game was going, we knew it was going to be a greasy (goal)," York said. "Just wanted to get it to the net, and it found a hole."

The Pittsburgh goalie finished with 31 saves, while Dan Vladar turned aside 42 shots for his second shutout of the series.

"Both goalies played unbelievable," Penguins coach Dan Muse said. "Right now, it's raw. At no point did I expect for our season to be over. ... I loved this group. They were awesome, from start to finish."

Silovs had big stops on Owen Tippett and Porter Martone in the first period. Both teams had one power play in the session, but neither team was able to dent the scoreboard.

Pittsburgh had another man advantage in the early portion of the second period, but Vladar and the Flyers held firm.

Shortly thereafter, Matvei Michkov skated in on a breakaway, only to have his wrister denied by Silovs. Michkov nearly scored again on the same shift, but Silovs beat him to the post.

Philadelphia opened the third period with a power play after Kris Letang punched Travis Konecny at the end of the second period. But the Flyers' man advantage was uneventful and the game remained scoreless.

With about 12 minutes left in regulation, Vladar made a confident stop against Egor Chinakhov on an offensive rush. A couple of minutes later, Silovs made a flashy glove save on Michkov.

Pittsburgh pressured late in the third period. Tommy Novak hit the post with a shot from distance, and then Vladar denied Bryan Rust from close range.

"(Vladar) was unbelievable for us tonight," York said. "Just so many grade-A chances they had that he stood tall for us. I can't say enough about him."

The Penguins had the advantage early in overtime with Evgeni Malkin getting a great scoring opportunity from the slot. Shortly thereafter, a wild scrum in front of the Philadelphia net created some tense moments before the play was blown dead.

Late in overtime, Martone's shot into an open net was somehow stopped by Silovs' stick that was lying on the ice. However, the Flyers won the game less than a minute later.

Orioles calling up top pitching prospect Trey Gibson to start Sunday vs. Yankees, says manager Craig Albernaz

The Baltimore Orioles will reportedly activate top pitching prospect Trey Gibson to start against the New York Yankees on Sunday.

The move hasn’t been officially announced, but Orioles manager Craig Albernaz said the plan was for Gibson to pitch on Sunday, according tothe Baltimore Banner’s Andy Kostka. He’ll be opposed by Max Fried pitching for the Yankees.

The 6-foot-5 right-hander was called up from Triple-A to join the Orioles’ taxi squad of minor leaguers that travels with the major-league club on road trips to provide replacements when necessary.

For Baltimore, a starting pitcher is certainly necessary.Trevor Rogers(illness),Dean Kremer(quad) andZach Eflin(elbow) are on the injured list,among the 12 playersthat are currently sidelined for the Orioles.

Gibson, 23, is ranked as Baltimore’s No. 3 prospectby MLB.comandBaseball America. He signed with the Orioles as an undrafted free agent in 2023 out of Liberty University and has steadily progressed through the minor-league system.

“Gibson has a power-pitcher build and power-pitcher stuff. He’s a 6-foot-5, 240-pound right-hander with a four-seamer that he can rev into the high 90s, a two-seamer to generate ground balls and an array of secondary offerings designed to miss bats in abundance.

“He throws two different sliders and an above-average curveball, both in the low-to-mid 80s, as well as a cutter and developing changeup. He’s added velocity and proven durable since entering pro ball, cutting his walk rate as he’s climbed to the upper levels.”

In starts for Triple-A Norfolk this season, Gibson has a 4.01 ERA in six starts with 25 strikeouts and 12 walks in 24 2/3 innings. He was already scheduled to start on Sunday, so will be on his normal turn in the rotation.

The Orioles went into Saturday’s matchup versus the Yankees (21-11) with a 15-17 record, six gamesout of first placein the AL East.
