The Denver Broncos got back in the win column, handling the Cincinnati Bengals, 28-3, at home on Monday night.

The Broncos and Bengals are now 2-2 through the first four weeks of the season, though the latter isn't looking too hot after yet another brutal offensive performance with backup quarterback Jake Browning at the helm for the injured Joe Burrow.

Browning was just 14-of-25 for 125 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions in a performance that came after just 10 points scored in a loss to the Minnesota Vikings this past week – his first filling the starting role for Burrow.

Credit has to go to the Broncos' defense, though, as they were able to sack Browning three times and force nine straight third-down stops against the Bengals to end the season. Cincinnati was just 2-of-11 on third down, with the only two successful ones coming on the opening drive.

Meanwhile, Bo Nix and the Broncos' offense looked good at home on Monday night, as Nix went 29-of-42 for 326 yards with two touchdown passes and one interception.

The Bengals got on the board first with an opening-drive field goal, but it was the Broncos who found the end zone first thanks to Nix taking it himself from six yards out on third-and-5 for a rushing score just before the end of the first quarter.

Nix clearly found the rhythm as the Broncos would follow up that first touchdown with another, this time allowing Marvin Mims' speed to show out with a 16-yard rush on a jet sweep. Courtland Sutton also added a key 22-yard reception on third-and-4 to keep that drive alive before Mims' stellar run.

Sutton would find the end zone himself as well, with Nix firing a dart from 20 yards away for the touchdown with eight seconds left to play in the first half.

Nik Bonitto of the Denver Broncos sacks Jake Browning of the Cincinnati Bengals during the second quarter at Empower Field At Mile High on Sept. 29, 2025 in Denver, Colorado.

A 21-3 lead for the Broncos at halftime could've been worse if Nix wasn't intercepted on fourth-and-1 from the Cincinnati two-yard line with two minutes remaining in the second quarter. But it was a turnover that ultimately didn't hurt the Broncos due to the Bengals' ineptitude on offense.

Star wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase was even seen going up to head coach Zac Taylor during the second half clearly frustrated as the offense couldn't put anything together.

Denver ended up capping their victory with an easy touchdown for rookie running back R.J. Harvey on a lofted 12-yard connection to make it 28-3.

While Harvey scored, it was veteran running back J.K. Dobbins being the first player to rush for 100 yards or more for the Broncos in the last 38 games, dating back to Latavius Murray in January 2023. He finished with 101 yards on 16 carries.

Sutton finished the game leading the Broncos with 81 receiving yards on five catches, while Mims had six grabs for 69 yards.

Bo Nix of the Denver Broncos scores a touchdown against the Cincinnati Bengals during the first quarter in the game at Empower Field At Mile High on Sept. 29, 2025 in Denver, Colorado.

For the Bengals, the Broncos' defense held both Chase and Tee Higgins to a combined eight catches and 55 yards. Cincinnati also had more penalties called on them than first downs, so Taylor must get things in order heading into a game against the hot Detroit Lions next week.

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (AP) — Darren Waller had a pair of touchdown catches in his first NFL game in nearly two years, and Tua Tagovailoa threw for 177 yards to lead the Miami Dolphins to their first win of the season, 27-21 over the New York Jets on Monday night.

The Dolphins lost star receiver Tyreek Hill to what appeared to be a serious knee injury in the third quarter. The five-time All-pro made a catch and land awkwardly on his left leg after being tackled near the New York Jets' sideline. Players from both teams took a knee while Hill was tended to, and he was immediately carted off and taken to a hospital.

Tagovailoa completed 17 of 25 passes and didn't have a turnover for the first time this season as he moved to 7-0 against the Jets as Miami's starter. The Dolphins (1-3) won their 10th straight at home against the Jets (0-4), who are still searching for their first win under coach Aaron Glenn.

The Jets pulled within six with 1:49 left when Garrett Wilson hauled in a 23-yard jump ball from Justin Fields, who ran it in for a 2-point conversion.

After recovering the onside kick, the Dolphins went three-and-out while working the clock to 13 seconds. Miami then pinned the Jets on their own 1, and the game ended on a play where New York tried a series of laterals, one of which was flagged as an illegal forward pass.

Waller, playing his first game since the end of the 2023 season, caught a 4-yard pass in the back of the end zone from Tagovailoa on fourth-and-goal in the second quarter of his Dolphins debut. The 33-year-old scored again on a 9-yard catch in the third that put Miami ahead 17-3. He finished with three receptions for 27 yards.

The Dolphins amassed 123 yards rushing behind De'von Achane's 20 carries for 99 yards. Achane had a 9-yard scoring run.

BRONCOS 28, BENGALS 3

DENVER (AP) — Bo Nix threw for two touchdowns and ran for another to atone for his end zone interception and Denver snapped a two-game skid by sending Cincinnati to its second straight blowout loss, 28-3.

With 101 yards on 16 carries, J.K. Dobbins recorded Denver's first 100-yard rushing game since Latavius Murray ran for 103 yards against the Chargers on Jan. 8, 2023, a span of 38 games, counting the playoffs.

Nix threw for 326 yards and the Broncos outgained the Bengals 512 yards to 159 while piling up 29 first downs to Cincinnati's nine.

The Broncos (2-2) still haven't trailed in the fourth quarter and for the first time since the opener, the outcome wasn't decided on a walk-off field goal as time expired. Denver grabbed a 21-3 halftime lead and never were threatened after that, even though the Broncos offense sputtered in the second half.

The Bengals (2-2) lost their second straight game behind backup quarterback Jake Browning, who is filling in with star Joe Burrow recovering from toe surgery. They were coming off their biggest blowout in their history, a 48-10 drubbing at Minnesota, and this one wasn't much better.

Cincinnati went up 3-0 on Evan McPherson's short field goal, but then gained just two first downs the rest of the first half and committed eight penalties, the franchise's most before halftime in at least 15 years.

The Bengals punted on all eight possessions after their opening field goal, save for a kneel-down at halftime.

A court in China has sentenced 11 people to death for their roles in a billion-dollar family-run criminal empire built on online scam and gambling operations in a remote border region of Myanmar, and for the deaths of workers who tried to escape.

Eleven members and associates of the Ming crime family were sentenced to death on Monday by the Wenzhou Intermediate People's Court in eastern China's Zhejiang Province, according to a court statement.

The Ming family is one of the so-called "four families" of northern Myanmar — mafia-like crime syndicates accused of running hundreds of compounds dealing in internet fraud, prostitution and drug production, and whose members hold prominent positions in the local government and militia aligned with Myanmar's ruling junta.

The family, headed by Ming Xuechang, had long been tied to an infamous compound called Crouching Tiger Villa in Kokang, an autonomous region on Myanmar's border with China. At their peak, the group had 10,000 people working to conduct scams and other crimes for them, Chinese broadcaster CCTV reported.

Kokang's capital Laukkaing was at the heart of the country's multi-billion-dollar scam industry, where trafficked workers were used to defraud strangers with sophisticated online schemes. Cash from the illicit activities had transformed the impoverished border town into a glittering casino city.

As the junta dragged its feet on shutting down the scam centers – a pressing security priority for Beijing – and after years of complaints by families of those trafficked to work in them on its southwestern border as well as growing international media reports, China launched a crackdown in 2023.

That November, China issued arrest warrants for members of the family, accusing them of fraud, murder and trafficking and posted rewards of between $14,000 and $70,000 for their capture.

Family head Ming Xuechang, who had also served as member of a Myanmar state parliament, later killed himself while in custody, Chinese state media reported at the time.

His son, Ming Guoping who was a leader in the junta-aligned Kokang Border Guard Force, his daughter Ming Julan, and granddaughter Ming Zhenzhen were also arrested.

Along with allied criminal groups, the syndicate's crimes led to the deaths of 10 people who disobeyed the group's management or tried to escape the compounds, according to the Chinese court's statement.

In one incident in October 2023, four people were killed when members of the group allegedly opened fire on people at a scam compound. In a report into the shooting, Chinese state media CCTV reported the group were transferring workers from the cyber fraud park under armed guard after being tipped off that police were planning a raid of the compound.

Five other defendants were given suspended death sentences for two years, and 12 others were handed prison terms of between five and 24 years, the court statement said.

Since 2015, the Ming family used its influence in the Kokang region to develop a number of compounds and recruit "financial backers" and armed protection to build a network of telecommunications fraud, casinos, drug trafficking and organized prostitution, the court said in its statement.

More than $43 billion is lost to scams in Southeast Asia by regional crime groups a year, according to the US Congress-founded United States Institute of Peace.

In Myanmar, scam compounds have been shielded by corruption and lawlessness that has long saturated the country's border regions. But the criminal syndicates and the armed groups hosting them have exploited four years of devastating civil war to expand their business.

The Chinese crackdown that led to the arrest of the Ming family and others in Kokang came after a coordinated rebel offensive against the Myanmar military in October 2023.

China had been publicly pushing the junta to crack down on cross-border crime targeting Chinese nationals. The rebels also cited the need to take out the massive scam operations as justification for their offensive – which analysts say China likely greenlit.

They eventually forced the military and its allies from Laukkaing.

Chinese authorities say more than 53,000 Chinese "suspects" – including trafficked victims – have been sent back to China from scam compounds in northern Myanmar.

Highly publicized crackdowns against Myanmar's scam centers have also taken place in further south in the country, following pressure from Chinese and Thai authorities.

But experts and analysts previously told CNN the cyber fraud industry is rapidly expanding through illicit online marketplaces, with syndicates adopting cryptocurrency and investing in cutting-edge technological developments in artificial intelligence to move money more quickly, and make their scams more effective.

CNN's Kloe Zheng contributed reporting.

Tropical Storm Imelda is strengthening north of the Bahamas and beginning its hard right turn eastward, sparing the US coast from a direct strike. But the storm is still churning up dangerous surf, rip currents, coastal flooding and beach erosion along the Southeast coast. Meanwhile, Bermuda faces a rare one-two punch from Hurricane Humberto and Imelda this week.

Humberto, which briefly exploded into a rare Category 5 storm with 160 mph winds Saturday, is now a large Category 3 hurricane located just a few hundred miles east of Imelda. Humberto's massive size will compound the hazards for US beaches this week, driving deadly rip currents and big waves farther north along the East Coast than Imelda would alone.

Imelda pulled away from the Bahamas Monday evening after lashing the islands with heavy rain, tropical storm-force winds and storm surge for two days.

As of early Tuesday, Imelda had sustained winds of 65 mph and was centered about 200 miles east of Cape Canaveral, Florida, according to the National Hurricane Center. The storm is expected reach hurricane strength on Tuesday.

Despite its center staying offshore, Imelda has already proven deadly. A 51-year-old man drowned in Volusia County, Florida, after being swept into the ocean by rip currents, the sheriff's office said. In Cuba, the storm left two dead, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero said. One of those killed was a 60-year-old man who died when his home collapsed in a landslide caused by heavy rain, according to the .

Localized flash flooding is still possible in the coastal Carolinas through Tuesday. Most places across the region can expect up to 2 inches of rain, with localized areas receiving up to 4 inches across southeast North Carolina.

Coastal flooding is also possible from Florida's Space Coast to North Carolina's Outer Banks, where onshore winds could push water 1 to 2 feet above normally dry ground at high tide.

Imelda is about to take a sharp right turn as Humberto yanks the storm eastward away from the shoreline. This anticipated interaction between the two storms is the main reason threats of flooding rain and damaging winds are decreasing for the US compared to concerns over the weekend.

So far this year, the US has avoided a direct hurricane landfall. Tropical Storm Chantal came ashore in South Carolina this July, but no storms have reached the coast at hurricane strength in 2025. If this streak holds, it would be the first season without a hurricane coming ashore in a decade.

Still, this season has been remarkable in another way: every hurricane so far — Erin, Gabrielle and Humberto — has reached major strength, a feat not seen this early since 1935. Major hurricanes are Category 3, 4 and 5 storms. Rapid intensification has become far more common in recent years as the planet warms due to fossil fuel pollution.

Bermuda faces a rare one-two punch

Bermuda is a sitting duck in the path of twin storms this week. Humberto is passing west of the island as a large, powerful hurricane Tuesday, bringing bands of rain, gusty winds and dangerous surf.

On the heels of Humberto, Imelda is expected to track even closer to Bermuda, with potential for a direct landfall and up to 4 inches of rain Wednesday into Thursday. The Bermuda Weather Service issued a hurricane watch for the archipelago Monday afternoon ahead of Imelda.

Two hurricanes in one week could deliver a punishing blow, even for the seasoned and storm-tested islands.

Japan's biggest beer maker Asahi Group says it has suspended orders and shipping services in the country after a cyberattack brought its production operations to a standstill.

Production at some of its 30 domestic factories remained suspended on Tuesday as the company continued to investigate how many plants had been affected, Reuters reported, citing the group's spokesperson.

The company, behind Asahi Super Dry Beer and Nikka Whisky and a raft of non-alcoholic beverages, said it cannot foresee when production will resume, according to the news agency.

The attack first came to light on Monday, when Asahi released a statement saying its order and shipment operations at its Japan-based companies had been suspended, alongside its call center services, "due to the system failure."

The group has not elaborated on the possibly identity of the attacker but said the cyberattack had not led to leakage of customer data

"We are actively investigating the cause and working to restore operations," the company said in a statement Monday, adding that there was no estimated timeline for recovery. CNN has reached out to Asahi for comment.

Asahi – which means "morning sun" in Japanese – was founded in 1889, with founder Komakichi Torii bottling the first Asahi Draft Beer in in Japan in 1900.

It has grown to become one of the world's largest drinks companies and owns international brands including Peroni, London Pride and Grolsch and several non-alcoholic beverage brands.

Iowa schools superintendent arrested by ICE has license revoked, placed on unpaid leave

DES MOINES — The superintendent of Iowa's largest school district was placed on unpaid leave and had his administrator license revoked by state officials, just days after being arrested by federal agents for allegedly being in the United States illegally.

In a news release on Sept. 29, the Iowa Department of Education announced that Des Moines Public Schools Superintendent Ian Roberts, 54, had his education license revoked by the Board of Educational Examiners. The board said in a Sept. 28 letter to Roberts that he was not able to hold a license because "you no longer possess legal presence in the United States."

"The license issued by the Board of Educational Examiners is no longer valid and your authority to serve as superintendent is revoked," the letter from board executive director Michael Cavin states, which added that Roberts has until Oct. 28 to appeal the decision.

The revocation came one day after the Des Moines School Board placed Roberts on paid administrative leave. After receiving word of the revocation, the school board voted on Sept. 29 to move Roberts from paid to unpaid administrative leave.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents detained Roberts on Sept. 26, saying that a court had issued a "final order of removal" in May 2024 for his deportation. Roberts, a Guyana native and longtime U.S. resident, had fled from police after a traffic stop in Des Moines and was arrested in what the Department of Homeland Security described as a "targeted enforcement operation."

Roberts is now being held on a deportation order. Officials have indicated that he is being held at the Woodbury County Jail in Sioux City, Iowa.

Des Moines School Board votes to put superintendent on unpaid leave

In a Sept. 29 news release, the Des Moines School Board said Roberts was added to the special board meeting agenda after it learned that his education license was officially revoked by state officials.

Before joining Des Moines Public Schools, Roberts underwent several background checks — including one by the state's board of education examiners. Following Roberts' arrest, Des Moines Public Schools officials have stated they were unaware of his removal order or that Roberts may have misrepresented himself as an American citizen.

"New information and confirmed facts will continue to inform our decisions as we develop a path forward," said Des Moines School Board Chair Jackie Norris, in the release. "Two things can be true at the same time — Dr. Roberts was an effective and well-respected leader, and there are serious questions related to his citizenship and ability to legally perform his duties as superintendent."

Before the vote on Sept. 29, Norris said district officials received paperwork showing Roberts was not allowed to work in the United States.

"We received a document from the Department of Homeland Services notifying us that Dr Roberts is an unauthorized worker in this country," Norris said. "We then received a copy of the final order of removal issued by the U.S. Department of Justice and signed by an immigration judge."

Board members said they have reached out to Roberts through his attorney and gave him until noon on Sept. 30 to clarify his citizenship or potentially face termination.

Illinois governor fights back: ICE wants National Guard troops in Chicago amid 'riots' and arrests.

Who is Ian Roberts?

Roberts grew up in Brooklyn, New York. According to the DHS, Roberts entered the United States on a student visa in 1999.

Federal records and previous reporting said he was born in Guyana. Before a career in education, Roberts competed in the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games in track and field for Guyana as a mid-distance runner.

Roberts became the superintendent of Des Moines Public Schools in July 2023. He succeeded longtime Superintendent Tom Ahart, who resigned at the end of the 2021-2022 school year. Before his revocation on Sept. 29, Roberts' professional administrator license was set to expire on Dec. 31, 2028.

'Unacceptable': ICE agent 'relieved' of duties after video captures him throwing immigrant to the floor

Federal officials accuse Roberts of working in the country illegally

After his arrest last week, the DHS said Roberts was working for the school district despite having no work authorization. Roberts allegedly sped away when officers approached his vehicle and identified themselves, and officers found his vehicle abandoned in a nearby wooded area, according to the DHS.

Tricia McLaughlin, a DHS spokesperson, confirmed to the Des Moines Register, part of the USA TODAY Network, that Roberts was allegedly in possession of a loaded handgun, a large amount of cash, and a hunting knife at the time of his arrest. His official school biography states that "he enjoys hunting."

The DHS also accused Roberts of violating federal law by possessing a handgun while in the United States without legal authorization, and said it was referring him to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives for further investigation.

The DHS said Roberts has "existing weapon possession charges" from Feb. 5, 2020. It's not clear where those charges were filed or whether they were resolved.

School district officials said they were not aware of those charges, but noted that Roberts addressed during the hiring process a 2021 Pennsylvania firearm citation related to a hunting rifle.

"He provided sufficient context and explanation of the situation to move forward in the hiring process," a district news release states. "He has also spoken publicly about this experience."
